Whether it downloads the full resolution originals or just thumbnails depends on whether you enable Download Originals or Optimize Storage sub option of iCloud Photos in Photos on that Mac. If you enable iCloud Photos in the Photos application, it should download the photos from the cloud. I was surprised to discover that there are no export functions within iCloud to "keep" the metadata visible and that users need to turn to a 3rd party solution. I am talking about the the internal metadata. very busy family life at the moment :-) Are you talking about the creation date of the new files into which you downloaded the pictures (as shown in Finder's Get Info), or are you talking about the internal metadata (as shown in Preview's Get Info)? I would expect Preview to show the original capture date, but not Finder. ![]()
